Ohaus PA214 Pioneer analytical balances features the most weighing capacity at a resolution of 0.1 mg. Like the PA64, it features a resolution of 0.1 milligrams and is accurate to 0.2 mg. The biggest difference is the higher capacity of 210 grams for laboratory applications requiring a higher load. If you are still trying to decide which Ohaus balance best fits your weighing specifications something you should consider is how much capacity will you typically need day to day. We recommend purchasing an analytical balance which not only accommodates your maximum load, but with room to spare. For example, if you feel your average sample is roughly 50 grams, it would be wise to purchase a balance that offers double that capacity such as the Pioneer PA114. While it may not be entirely necessary to do so, you are not limited to a 65 gram limitation, and less likely to overload the analytical balance which may cause irreversible damage. While the Ohaus Pioneer Series features a 2 year limited warranty from the manufacturer, this typically will not cover a balance that has broken due to an excessive load.
Ohaus Pioneer Series is economical laboratory solution which offers a readability of 0.1 mg. It now serves as a replacement to the older Adventurer Pro SL which was discontinued at the start of 2009. You may still purchase an Adventurer Pro which was not discontinued and does feature a larger weigh pan than the Pioneer. Both models are great options, but the Pioneer is more affordable if price is the most important factor in your purchasing decision.
