In many food-production facilities, weight values need to be recorded into a computer. This can be accomplished with an RS-232 feature that allows the scale to connect directly to a PC. But most scales with RS-232 aren’t designed to tolerate moist environments. Consequently, weighing in wet areas often means spending extra time manually collecting values and transposing them into a computer again later. Not only is this labor intensive and time consuming, but it opens the door for costly errors.
