The 400KL beam physician scale is one of the most affordable models, yet still offers weighing units in both lbs and kgs.  Similar balance beam scales are also available that offer additional features such as counter-weights that increase total capacity and built-in height-rods.  Health-O-Meter 400KL does not have these features which is why it is lower in price.  Since the 400EXP was discontinued, Health-O-Meter's 400KL is now their true economical physician beam scale.  Unlike the 400EXP, this model features engraved units that will not wear out over time, extending the life of the scale.  This feature is what gives Health-O-Meter the ability to back the doctor scale with a 10 year limited warranty.  The cheaper, discontinued models had units that weren't engraved so they could slowly wear away.
